Screen & Camera Recording Studio for iPhone, iPad, and Mac
Effective July 30, 2026WiseStage is built with privacy as a core principle. Your recordings, edits, and everything you create are yours alone. This policy covers WiseStage on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The short version: There is no account and no sign-in. Your recordings and media are processed on your device and never uploaded to us. Captions, translation, transcription, and voice-over all run on-device. Anonymous crash reports and usage analytics are on by default to help improve the app. They contain nothing from your work, and you can turn them off anytime, on any device.
WiseStage behaves identically on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. There is no version that quietly does more with your data than another.
The only thing that differs is where you find that off switch, because the two systems put settings in different places:
On either platform, WiseStage does not access or collect:
WiseStage has no user accounts and no servers of its own. There is nothing to sign in to, and nowhere for your work to be uploaded.
Recording, editing, and export all happen locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. We never upload your recordings to our servers or anyone else's.
On iPhone and iPad, recordings live in WiseStage's own private storage until you export them, at which point they go to your Photos library or wherever you choose to share them.
On Mac, finished recordings are saved to your Downloads folder by default. You can change that to Movies ▸ WiseStage or any folder you pick. Work-in-progress files are kept inside the app's own sandbox container and can be reviewed or cleared anytime from Storage in the app.
This is also the honest answer to “how do you keep my work secure?”: your work is protected by your own device's encryption and passcode, because there is no copy of it anywhere else for anyone to reach.
Speech-to-text captions, caption translation, transcription, and AI voice-over are all generated on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Your speech and audio are not sent to us, and we never receive them.
The first time you use a given language, iOS or macOS may download Apple's language model for it. That is a download from Apple, not an upload of your audio. Nothing of yours is sent.
To be complete about one small case: the teleprompter's optional voice-follow feature asks the system for on-device recognition and uses it whenever your device supports it for your language. If a language isn't available offline, the system may handle that recognition through Apple's speech service under Apple's privacy policy. Either way, WiseStage never receives your audio.
WiseStage asks for a permission at the moment it needs it, and never for anything it doesn't use. You can change any of these in your system settings at any time.
To record your camera so you can appear in your videos, as a facecam, reaction, or picture-in-picture, including an iPhone used as a camera.
To record narration and voice-overs for your videos.
To write captions for your videos and let the teleprompter follow along as you speak. On-device, as described above.
To capture your screen when you record a screen or Studio session. WiseStage records only the display, window, or app you choose, for as long as you are recording, and it leaves its own windows out of the frame. If you turn on system audio, the recording will include sound from the apps you are capturing.
To save the videos and screenshots you export. WiseStage asks for add-only access: it can put new items in, and it cannot read your existing photos. When you import media into the editor, you pick the items yourself in Apple's picker, and only those items are handed to the app.
WiseStage runs in Apple's App Sandbox. It can write finished recordings to your Downloads and Movies folders, and it can read or write any other folder you choose in a Save or Open dialog. It has no access to the rest of your disk.

WiseStage for Mac can show a connected phone on screen so you can record it, and can copy files between the phone and your Mac. All of it happens over the cable, on your machine. Nothing about your phone, its contents, or its identifiers is sent anywhere.
With USB debugging enabled on your phone, WiseStage mirrors its screen and audio so you can record it, and can browse and transfer files when you ask it to. WiseStage bundles Google's adb and the open-source scrcpy tools for this. They run only on your Mac.
A plugged-in iPhone can be shown and recorded, used as a camera, and you can import photos and videos from its camera roll. The import browser shows you your camera roll so you can pick from it (only while the phone is plugged in and you have that screen open) and copies only the items you select, to the folder you choose.
A note on networking: the Android tools normally advertise themselves over your local network for wireless debugging. We deliberately switch that off, so WiseStage never scans or joins your network. It talks to its own helper over a private connection inside your Mac only. This is why macOS never asks WiseStage for Local Network access.
On every platform, we collect two kinds of anonymous data by default to help improve the app. Neither contains any content from your work:
These reports carry no content from your work: no recordings, audio, images, scripts, captions, or file names.
You can disable either or both at any time: in Settings ▸ WiseStage on iPhone and iPad, or in Storage ▸ Diagnostics inside the Mac app. Changes take effect immediately, and the app works fully without sharing any data.
Separately, if the app ever crashes, the system hands it a technical report on the next launch and WiseStage files that away in a small, self-trimming folder inside its own storage. That copy stays on your device and is never uploaded. It is there so you can send it to us yourself if you ever want help with a problem.
This data is not used for advertising, profiling, or tracking users across apps or websites, as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency guidelines. We do not show ads, and we do not sell or share your personal information.

These services are provided by Google and process data on servers in the United States. Data is handled in an aggregated and anonymous manner and is not linked to your identity or shared with data brokers or advertisers. See Firebase Privacy for details.
The Mac app also bundles two open-source tools, Google's adb and scrcpy, used only to talk to a phone over the cable. They send nothing anywhere; their licences are listed in the app.
WiseStage Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the entire transaction: we never see your name, payment details, or Apple Account. The app simply asks your device whether a valid subscription exists.
WiseStage is a Universal Purchase: one subscription covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Your recordings and projects stay on your device for as long as you keep them. We hold no copy, so deleting them from your device deletes them completely.
Anonymous crash reports from iPhone and iPad age out automatically after about 90 days. Anonymous usage events are deleted by Firebase on a rolling schedule and are never kept longer than 14 months.
Because WiseStage has no accounts and keeps nothing that identifies you, there is very little of yours for us to hold. Still, you always have the right to:

MrWise is based in British Columbia, Canada, and handles personal information in line with Canadian privacy law (PIPA and PIPEDA). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our lawful basis for the optional diagnostics described above is our legitimate interest in keeping the app working correctly, and you may object at any time using the toggle in Settings. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
If you are ever unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can raise it with your local privacy regulator: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or your national data-protection authority in the EEA or UK.
WiseStage is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time, for example, when a new feature changes what a permission is used for. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version, and significant changes will be communicated through the app.
